Daata Editions commissions artist video, sound, poetry and web. This new and innovative way to collect art is designed specifically to be a native platform to a new generation of artists who work with moving image and sound. Limited edition artworks can be previewed and acquired as digital downloads. Daata Editions’ Director, David Gryn founder of Artprojx and Curator of Film, Art Basel in Miami Beach has a strong reputation worldwide in producing, curating and promoting artists’ audio visual projects and events that have consistently excited and attracted large audiences and introduced new audiences to the arts.

Girlhood

SD Video - 2015 - 02:02 min Artists Leo Gabin, whose practice is partially based on scanning through various genres of Youtube videos, in Girlhood focus on a video blogger, in an attempt to comment on teenage girl culture.

Electric

For his second commission for Daata Editions, Ed Fornieles keeps working with his fox alter ego, which is perpetually caught in a death loop. His cartoon body absorbs the shock of various and violent ways to end and the image of death becomes analogous to a general trauma in which the viewer internalizes the act of violence, digesting it as either laugh or empathetic anxiety.

DAY OFF 3

HD Video - 2016 - 02:33 min In Jillian Mayer’s DAY OFF 3, the protagonist plays what we can only assume is a fully immersive virtual reality video game, completely disconnected from the world of the viewer, oblivious to the environment as well as the viewer's physical presence and gaze.

Afternoon Nap

Animation - 2016 - 03:10 min Michael Manning creates an Activity Playlist, a series of video works that takes its conceptual basis and form from playlists created by streaming music services like Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal. Afternoon Nap forms part of a group of videos which seek to give visual form to the themes and moods presented in their musical playlist counterparts and which are meant to be displayed as looped video with no audio to allow the user to play their preferred music and curate their own overall experience.

Pink Rooms

HD Video - 2016 - 03:22 min Hannah Quinlan & Rosie Hastings’ work Pink Rooms is part of their UK Gay Bar Directory, a moving image archive of the UK gay bar scene, which works as an important historical gesture and a strategy for resisting assimilation, in the climate of the rapid gentrification of gay villages and the subsequent closure of many LGBTQI community spaces across the UK.

Animation - 2015 - 00:43 min For his Daata Editions commission Takeshi Murata has created short and gestural vignettes of various combined TV, film and fairy tale archetypes

SD Video - 2015 - 01:18 min Hannah Perry works on a series of videos collectively titled SPLIT SECOND, including aahhhhh, focusing on minute and subtle transitional moments, repetition, rhythms and cycles, which are analogous to techniques used within music production, such as sampling and loops.

Oh the humanity

HD Video - 2015 - 03:00 min Oh the Humanity is a video by Jon Rafman depicting an animated wave of people, packed inner tube to inner tube, in an overpopulated ocean with a soundtrack featuring relaxation-inducing sounds.

En Plein Air Abstraction #1

Animation - 2016 - 01:10 min En Plein Air Abstraction #1 by Jacolby Satterwhite forms part of a suite of videos related to his series En Plein Air: Music of Objective Romance, a concept album reversely scored by 9 videos that are themed by blockbuster movie tropes, disaster films, erasure, queer eroticism, and other hero / anti hero genres.

Color Mixing Machine 1

Animation on loop - 2016 - 00:45 min Saya Woolfalk’s Color Mixing Machine 1 links with her project Emphatics, the creation of a fictional race of women, who are able to alter their genetic make-up and fuse with plants. With each body of work, Woolfalk continues to build the narrative of these women's lives, and questions the utopian possibilities of cultural hybridity.
